WHAT WE DO

A thoughtful tasting and discussion curated by co-hosts Aya and Jon, for those that are curious about (or already in love with) Korean traditional alcohol.

Come and sample six different delicious sools and spirits from various regions and recipe books, and then try creating your very own customized cocktail.
◦
Expect a very fun and friendly time!

WHAT CAN I EXPERIENCE

A short ‘sool’ presentation: process, history, sool stories, and what makes Korean alcohol culture so special.

Taste

Try 6 different sools and spirits curated by our co-hosts, including takju, yakju, soju and two specialty cocktails.

Mix
•
Participants may select any sools and mixers from the program to make their own cocktail or magical concoction.

Jon Coyle
is one half of the creative team behind ‘Flavor of Mind,’ a freshly sauteed YouTube channel that explores the delicious food and dynamic neighborhoods of Seoul, combined with bits of Korean history and oddball humor. Made together with his partner Kangsil Ko, the channel’s content also highlights the perspectives of an international couple with roots in both South Korea and the USA. Besides going for long city walks and eating impressive amounts of funky cheonggukjang, Jon and Kangsil have recently been developing a new ‘Seoul Guided Walking’ project, as well as a series of group events that will focus on having maximum fun and staying curious about South Korea’s capital city.
Aya
is a certified sool curator and Korean culture enthusiast who regularly hosts Fish in a Suit’s monthly sool (전통주) events.
She uses her love and passion for the Korean language, Korean culture, teaching, and drinking to introduce traditional Korean liquor to both foreigners and Koreans alike.
